Kinangop skyline

This was my first trip to Kinangop. I, like most Kenyans who live in Nairobi know Kinangop as a place where potatoes (which we know as chips/french fries) come from. Majority of Nairobians don't know where it is but this day I had the privilege of getting to know the place.
It's on the foothills of the Aberdare ranges opposite Naivasha on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. The place is quite flat as you can see in the photo above with very few trees and strong winds. The place gets very cold in at night (I didn't spend the night there but by the time I left - around 8pm it was pretty cold). The soil is fertile with good climate for farming -I should get a plot here...
The trip was to 'buy' my uncle a wife and after getting lost in these plains and some hostility from the wife-to-be's family, we finally got the girl.
Lessons:
  • Carry some warm clothes if you ever take a trip to Kinangop
  • Have someone who knows where you are going.
  • Leave before dark

Rolf's place

My fear of heights came out in the open infront of all who were around the bridge to Rolf's place including Mrs and Rolf himself on this day. I held firmly on to the the wires all through trying as hard as I could not to look down with mrs laughing at me all the way. I later told her I was just pretending so as to see how she would take care of me if I was ever afraid of anything and that she had failed badly. She dint believe me.
